Who Are Our Special Needs Education Assistants?

Our SEAs are experienced, specialist informed professionals who work directly with pupils with neurodiversities in school settings. They are not qualified teachers, but they bring something equally valuable: focused, practical expertise in supporting neurodiverse learners, combined with the backing of a senior SEND team behind them at every step.

Every Elite Tutors Sussex SEA:

  • Holds qualifications in neurodiversity, covering areas including Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, PDA, Sensory Processing, anxiety and disengagement
  • Has access to the Elite Tutors Sussex library of specialist strategies, developed and curated by our senior SENCO team
  • Works under regular supervision from a senior SEND teacher within the Elite Tutors Sussex agency
  • Has direct access to senior SEND Consultant support when they need guidance on a particular pupil or situation
  • Is fully DBS checked and recruited through our rigorous safer recruitment process

What Our SEAs Can Deliver

Our Special Needs Education Assistants can be deployed flexibly, by the hour to meet your school’s needs. They are experienced in delivering:

1:1 Support: Focused, personalised support for individual pupils, working on targets and strategies identified in their EHCP or Individual Support Plan. Every session is purposeful and built around the pupil’s profile of need.

Small Group Sessions: Structured group work with a specialist understanding of how neurodiverse learners interact, communicate and regulate. Sessions are calm, consistent and carefully managed to ensure every pupil in the group can participate and make progress.

Pastoral Support: Building trusted, consistent relationships with pupils who are anxious, disengaged or struggling to connect with school. Our SEAs are skilled at creating the kind of calm, non-threatening presence that helps pupils feel safe, seen and ready to learn.

Mentoring: Regular mentoring sessions supporting pupils to develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience and self-advocacy skills. This is particularly effective for pupils with SEMH needs, PDA profiles or high levels of anxiety.

In-Lesson Engagement Support: Supporting pupils to access and engage with classroom learning alongside their teacher, using strategies from the Elite Tutors Sussex library to scaffold participation, reduce overwhelm and build independence over time.

  • Strategies and approaches are not left to chance or personal experience. Our SEAs draw on the Elite Tutors Sussex specialist strategy library, developed by our senior SENCO team, so the support your pupils receive is informed, consistent and evidence based
  • Your school does not carry the responsibility for training or upskilling your SEA. That is our job, not yours
  • Every SEA receives regular supervision from a senior SEND teacher within our agency, ensuring their practice is reflective, high quality and responsive to each pupil’s needs
  • When a situation is complex or a pupil’s needs evolve, our SEAs have direct access to senior SEND Consultant support. They are never working in isolation
  • Half termly progress updates are provided, aligned to EHCP outcomes and ISP targets, giving your SENCO clear, usable evidence of impact

  • Executive Function supporting pupils with planning, organisation, working memory and self regulation in the classroom and beyond
  • Sensory helping pupils manage sensory processing differences and access learning environments more comfortably
  • Speech and Language supporting communication, turn taking, vocabulary development and language processing in sessions and lessons
  • Motor and Physical assisting pupils where fine or gross motor difficulties affect their participation and independence
  • Social and Emotional providing consistent, nurturing support to help pupils regulate, connect and engage
