Who Are Our SENCOs?

Our SENCOs are qualified, experienced professionals with a deep understanding of the complex needs of neurodiverse learners. They are senior members of the Elite Tutors Sussex team, bringing with them the full weight of our specialist knowledge, our strategy library and our network of Specialist Teachers, Special Needs Education Assistants and alternative provision expertise.

Every Elite Tutors Sussex SENCO:

  • Is a qualified and experienced SENCO with a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
  • Has experience coordinating complex cases including transitions, mixed programmes and alternative provision
  • Can support parents with strategies for home
  • Works collaboratively alongside your school SENCO, class teachers, Teaching Assistants and external professionals
  • Has direct access to the Elite Tutors Sussex senior SEND Consultant team

What Our SENCOs Can Do For Your School

EHCP Coordination and Outcomes Tracking

Our SENCOs can take on the coordination of individual EHCPs, ensuring outcomes are clearly understood, provision is in place and progress is being tracked consistently. This includes maintaining clear records, preparing for annual reviews and ensuring the right professionals are contributing at the right time.

This is particularly valuable where:

  • A pupil is transitioning back into school from Education Other Than At a School (EOTAS)
  • A pupil has a mixed programme of school and alternative provision and someone needs to hold the whole picture
  • Your own SENCO team is stretched and specific cases need dedicated expert oversight
  • A pupil’s needs are complex or escalating and require a more intensive coordination approach
Communication and Joined Up Working

Effective SEND provision depends on everyone working from the same understanding. Our SENCOs act as a central, professional point of communication across all the adults involved in a pupil’s support, including:

Supporting Your Inclusion Strategy

Our SENCOs can work directly alongside your school SENCO and leadership team to strengthen your whole school inclusion strategy. This might include:

  • Reviewing and developing your SEND provision to ensure it is well structured, evidence based and aligned to EHCP outcomes
  • Supporting the development or review of your annual Inclusion Strategy
  • Helping to map provision across your school and identify gaps
  • Contributing to staff development and understanding of neurodiverse learners
  • Supporting you to prepare for Ofsted and evidence the impact of your inclusion work
Bespoke Programme Writing

As part of our SENCO support service, our SENCO can arrange, oversee and quality assure bespoke intervention programmes written specifically for your pupils. Here is how it works in practice:

  • You let us know exactly what you need and share a pupil’s EHCP with our team
  • Our Specialist Teachers then write a bespoke, evidence based programme tailored to that individual pupil
  • The programme is written for delivery by one of our Special Needs Education Assistants or your own Teaching Assistant staff, with clear step by step guidance so whoever is delivering can do so with confidence
  • Progress is fed into half termly reports aligned to EHCP outcomes, ready for annual reviews

This means your school benefits from specialist programme writing expertise without the burden of sourcing, briefing and managing it yourselves. Our SENCO holds it all together on your behalf.

Progress Reporting

Our SENCOs provide clear, professional half termly reports aligned to EHCP outcomes, giving your leadership team and governors the evidence they need to demonstrate impact, support annual reviews and maintain a clear picture of every pupil’s progress.

Transitions and Mixed Programmes

One of the areas where schools most often need additional SENCO capacity is when a pupil is moving between settings or holding a complex mixed programme of provision. This includes:

  • Pupils transitioning back into mainstream school from EOTAS, where reintegration needs to be carefully planned, well communicated and sensitively managed
  • Pupils attending school part time alongside alternative provision, where someone needs to hold the whole programme and ensure it is coherent and purposeful
  • Pupils moving between year groups, key stages or schools, where EHCP outcomes need to be carefully handed over and provision rebuilt quickly
