As the owner of Elite Tutors Sussex, I have the pleasure of visiting and working with many fantastic schools across the region. Recently, I was warmly welcomed to Brighton Girls School as part of our spotlight series on local schools. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this is a school alive with energy, creativity, and a genuine sense of ambition.
Under the guidance of their Head, Rosie McColl, and a forward-thinking leadership team, Brighton Girls is embracing positive changes that reflect its commitment to nurturing curious, confident, and engaged young women. The newly developed buildings are a demonstration of the school’s drive to create spaces that inspire. The dance and drama studios studios are a space brimming with creativity, talent and collaboration. Equally impressive were the arts facilities, which provide students with the tools to bring their ideas to life in a truly supportive environment.
While touring the school, set across 2 sites in the city centre, I had the opportunity to speak with the DT (Design and Technology) teacher, whose passion for sustainability was compelling. He spoke about a local project that engages students in practical, hands-on learning about environmental issues. This blend of creativity and critical thinking embodies what Brighton Girls is all about—encouraging students to ask questions, think differently, and make a real impact.

The Sixth Form is another impressive area, with its modern, modular furniture and dedicated spaces that feel more like a university than a traditional school. Students are given the independence and support they need to take the next steps in their academic and professional journeys.
The close ties between the prep and senior schools ensure a seamless transition for younger students, and the school’s alumni network is a wonderful source of inspiration. Former students regularly return to share their experiences, helping to inspire a younger generation.

My visit to Brighton Girls left me inspired and impressed. This is a school that doesn’t just talk about ambition—it lives and breathes it.
